As per the prevailing policy, 40 per-cent weightage is provided to board marks and 60 per cent to your JEE-Main score for admission to a National Institute of Technolgy (NITs).

Official sources said the committee took into mind several factors while choosing its recommendations that included delays witnessed in 2010 in the common counselling for admissions on the IITs and NITs.

CBSE had didn’t publish the JEE-Main ranking list in time for the counselling and blamed it around the delay because of the state boards in submitting class XII marks. The ranks are decided after giving weightage to your class XII results.

The delay stood a cascading effect that led to your postponement of admissions towards the IITs, causing anxiety among students and parents.

A committee member said the reform from the JEE exams introduced from the erstwhile UPA government giving weightage on the board results had didn’t achieve the goals and objectives.
